Enzyme skin exfoliation
How does enzyme peel work:
Enzymes are the chemicals which speed up chemical reactions in our organism without being consumed in these reactions.
In our skin enzymes can catalyze such reactions as breakdown of keratin proteins which form upper dead cells layer on the surface of the skin. New cells layer is deeper in under this surface and doesn’t contain much keratin, so enzymes can be used to dissolve upper layer of dead cells on the surface without harming living cells.
Who can use enzyme exfoliation:
Enzyme peels are usually recommended to treat dark skin, acne type skin and sensitive type skin. These products work by dissolving dead cells layer without friction and don’t irritate the skin like mechanical exfoliators.
There are different types of skin care products which contain enzymes, for example you can choose some mask, cleanser, lotion, powder etc. to treat your skin.
Plant enzyme and Protease enzyme skin peels:
Enzyme skin exfoliators usually contain Papain enzyme found in Papaya, Bromelain enzyme derived from Pine apple and Pumkin proteolytic enzymes.
Papain and Bromelin are the most widely used enzymes for skin care treatments. These two enzymes work by dissolving dead skin cells layer on the surface of the skin. Trere are also some other fruit enzymes can be used for the skin exfoliation, such as Citrus enzymes, Cocoa enzyme, Red Raspberry enzyme etc.
Another one type of the enzymes is the Protease enzymes. Using of the proteolytic enzymes is the newest form of the enzymatic skin exfoliation. These enzymes mimic the role of your own body’s natural protease enzymes and promote decay of the protein and dissolution of dead skin cells stimulating the cell renewal. This type of the enzyme skin exfoliation works best when used every day and is suitable for all the skin types.
Enzyme skin peels can be used as an alternative to the AHA and BHA
