Microdermabrasion and acne

Acne and factors that cause it:

Generally, acne is the disease of sebaceous hair follicle. Each of the follicle on our skin has a tiny hair and multilobed sebaceous glands, these glands produce oily substance – sebum. In the normally functioning follicle sebum travels through the follicle out to the skin surface. But in the acne sebum gets trapped within the follicle.

Acne usually appears on the areas with the most numerous sebaceous glands: the face, neck, chest, shoulders and back.

Acne is a very widespread skin problem. Almost all of the people suffer from it in some periods of their life, especially early in life. About 80% of all teenagers and 20% of adults suffer from acne, and many of these people have visible acne scars.

Adult people often suffer from acne because of stress medication, hormonal changes and other factors. Investigations show that hormones have a strong on the influence the skin condition. The clogged pores which cause acne are affected by the level of hormones in person’s organism and hormonal changes can cause reducing and increasing of acne problem.

Except hormones, there are tree basic factors which can cause the development of acne: increased sebum production, changes inside the follicle and bacteria.

Acne also can be caused by cosmetics that can clog pores. Such products as makeup, foundations and night creams and moisturizers can be comedogenic.

There are many different skin care procedures that can help to solve acne problem depending of the factor which cause it. Skin exfoliation procedure is one of the most effective one.

Microdermabrasion for acne treatment:

Microdermabrasion is one of the most simple and effective skin care procedures than can help in the acne treatments. It affects positively both the epidermis and dermis layers.
Microdermabrasion is able to activate a dermal remodeling wound healing process.

Microdermabrasion strips dirt plugs out from the pores by the combination of the skin abrasion and suction processes. The wand or the stream of the crystals abrade the skin and vacuum sucks up dead cells and dirt from the pores. When microdermabrasion is used on acne skin it needs stronger suction to unclog the pores because only the sandblasting can’t reach that deep on its own.

There are different forms of acne. If you have mild form of acne, microdermabrasion can work very well on its treatment. But if you have moderate to severe forms of acne, you should avoid microdermabrasion treatment at all because it can cause some damage.

Many of the home dermabrasion products are comedogenic because they consist of the creams with the ingredients which can clog pores. However in the professional microdermabrasion procedure there is no other substances touching your skin except crystal flow, and these crystals don’t stay on the skin for a long time and don’t cause any reaction.

Investigations show that microdermabrasion treatment gives excellent and good results in 70% cases of mild acne forms treatment.

Microdermabrasion treatment can also be very effective in superficial acne scars treatment. It peels off a very fine layer of the skin diminishing the scars.
