Oily to combination skin exfoliation
Exfoliation methods for oily skin:
Skin exfoliation is a very important step of your skin care system. Choosing the method of skin exfoliation you should always take into account your skin type. Different skin types react in a different way to different skin peels. The reaction of your skin depends greatly on it color, thickness, functioning of glands on its surface and presence of such imperfections as scars, acne and sun damage.
When your skin is oily, it is difficult to exfoliate it because the oil is sticky and dead cells move away with some difficulty.
Facial exfoliation:
If you have oily skin type, you should exfoliate it about 3 times a week. More often exfoliation may cause excessive oil secretion because the skin gets too activated and often exfoliation stimulates more oil production by the sebaceous glands.
It’s better to use skin peels that contain BHA to exfoliate this skin type, the BHA is oil soluble and is the best suited to treat oily skin and unclog pores. Also you can use clay masks, gentle exfoliators which contain polyurethane and silicone beads or enzyme exfoliating products which exfoliate skin without rubbing the skin.
There are several steps of oily skin exfoliation:
• Everyday or exfoliating cleanser
• Exfoliating product
• Mud mask
• Moisturizing mask
• Non-comedogenic lotion
• Oil-free moisturizer
• Sunscreen
Body skin exfoliation:
If you want to exfoliate your body and the skin is oily, the steps of the exfoliation procedure are similar to the face exfoliation. At first you should get your body wet in the shower, then use a body loofah, scrubbing sponge or gloves and apply apply the exfoliating cleanser to your skin or onto the sponge. Then gently massage your skin with this sponge making circular motions. Rinse your skin and use a good moisturizer and try not to over-exfoliate your skin because it can break tiny blood vessels or make your skin oilier.
Combination skin exfoliation:
Combination skin is a mix of dry or skin on the cheeks and oily skin on the centre of your face (the area usually named T-zone). While exfoliating combination skin you should choose the method which is suitable for or the zones of your face.
To exfoliate combination skin use a gentle skin peels which clean out clogged pores and remove blackheads on the area with oily skin and remove dry skin flakes from the cheeks.
Never scrub oily areas of your face – it irritates the skin and stimulates more oil production. To remove blackheads from oily skin areas you can better use pore strips which are placed over blocked pores area and then pulled off.
Choosing skin peels always look for the products which normalize your skin, for example AHA-containing products or enzyme peels.
After exfoliating combination skin use a balancing moisturiser.
